The main reason why Whatsapp Was Asked To Review Its Privacy Policy Changes by the government is the change to its privacy policy recently which was informed by Sanjay Dhotre to Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

The changes are that Whatsapp says that they will share the information of the users with the parent company which is Facebook. But, the government does not agree with Whatsapp.

Reason for The Controversy Between Government and Whatsapp

We all know the main reason between the controversy of government and Whatsapp is the change of privacy policy of WhatsApp.

The government did not agree with Whatsapp to share the information of the users with the partner of Whatsapp which is Facebook. That is why Whatsapp Was Asked To Review Its Privacy Policy Changes by the government.

The government wants to protect and secure the information of the WhatsApp users of their country and wants end-to-end encryption.

Though Whatsapp is forcing the users to accept the updated privacy policy the government is opposing it very strictly.

What all data is shared if you agree to the updated privacy policy?

Since the updated privacy policy of Whatsapp is launched they have clarified that the information only of the business will be shared with their partner.

The information like the phone number and transaction details of the businesses will be shared with their partner. Whatsapp made it clear that it will not affect the normal user’s conversation with their family and friends.

Whatsapp will continue providing end to end encryption to its normal users and the logs of the voice and video calls will never be kept.

According to Whatsapp:

“The information we share with the other Facebook Companies includes your account registration information (such as your phone number), transaction data (for example, if you use Facebook Pay or Shops in WhatsApp), service-related information, information on how you interact with businesses when using our Services, mobile device information, your IP address, and may include other information identified in the Privacy Policy section entitled ‘Information We Collect’ or obtained upon notice to you or based on your consent,” the messaging app wrote in an FAQ page.

Whatsapp is providing clarity on its data sharing with Facebook and other companies.

What will happen if you don’t agree to the updated WhatsApp privacy policy?

Whatsapp has not provided any details regarding if you don’t agree with WhatsApp’s updated privacy policy then what after that.

We have to wait for some time because may the WhatsApp change the privacy policy or the controversy between the government and WhatsApp will be over.

Also, Whatsapp Was Asked To Review Its Privacy Policy Changes by the government then it is possible that WhatsApp reviews its privacy policy changes.
